Pause for Thought
• I've been thinking a lot recently on the nature of astrology, as a good Moon in Sagittarius should! and I've reminded myself that it is the true shamanic nature of the subject and its inherent magic that keeps it alive in my soul. Its not to be abused for personal gain, its to be respected and honoured to provide for our highest good, whatever that may be. The planets have a way of showing you a path, but without starting a debate on prognostication, fate and free will, they seem to have a habit of explaining our human environment with alarming accuracy. Enjoy mercury retrograde!
• Saturn is turning direct, and the time for doing some groundwork and laying solid foundations is upon us. We've been processing and learning for a few months, and it's time now to take those lessons and apply them. What will provide for the long term future? I think you already know, but its time to channel that knowing into positive action. Pluto's been shaking things up along with Mars picking up pace again too so shed those unwanted barriers and get moving.
• So, Spring is upon is and The Sun, Mercury and Venus are all due in Aries! Saturn slows to go direct in May and Pluto stations to retrograde. Hmm...The brakes slow on crisis, the careful reflection of the last few months can come to fruition with right action. Go, do, express yourself and makes things happen!
• I've mentioned the void in the past. The bubbling essence of creativity, the melting pot of all things before their being, the true nature of Magic and the iridescence of the blue/black shimmering feathered coat of Raven in Native American medicine. To walk into Hades' underworld with no knowledge of what layeth there?! Enter and be reborn.
• Well as a Capricorn , i am rather excited at the prospect of all this activity in my Sign. Pluto makes his way into Capricorn on the 26th heralding changes across the board. on the personal level this can be profound and on the collective level even more so! Let's see what happens, but as Martin Luther said as he embarked upon the protestant reformation of the church. "Here I stand, I can do no other, God help me!"
• Phew, what a few weeks its been! There's been a whole lot of mania it seems on so many levels for so many people. But there's something looming, a sense of impending somethingness! Now we can cut out from the recent host of thoughts, ideas, events, and actions those things we truly need in our lives in order to create what is to come. The tide is turning and for those of us ready to act the next few months will be life changing, stepping into the unknown and taking risks with the feeling that they are simply the right risks to take whatever the outcome. For those of us not ready or who are still fearful of the bubbling creative void that is the unknown then well, these could be testing times.
• Mars has moved into Cancer and we are preparing for Mercury to turn retrograde on the 12th October. Time to get your thoughts, ideas and paperwork in order. What you produce during this time may be profoundly transformational. The fast paced push of Mars this year is slowing and some rest may also be on the agenda, otherwise you may find yourself feeling somewhat frustrated, if not angry, swimming furiously to keep yourself afloat.
• For those of you who haven't noticed December the 11th, its where Jupiter and Pluto come together at 28 Sag. This as a presage to both of these social and generational heavyweights moving into Capricorn on the 18th December and the 26th (first hit) January 07 respectively. We would be foolish to predict the exact nature of these events, but we can hazard a guess that the fragile existing political and financial structures we are operating under can no longer rely on homeostasis to uphold the status quo.
• So having just watched the news this afternoon, I see the first signs of Saturn preparing to move into Virgo as they stop Big Ben for routine maintenance and servicing! Fabulous!
• My thoughts are currently on how we as astrologers choose to stand our ground in the face of adversity and scientism. We have stood up to ridicule for centuries and yet our craft allows for such a rich diversity of understanding in symbolism, myth, psychology, and divination to name but a few. Does the modern enlightenment have room for shifting philosophy? or are the foundations already running too deep?
• What is Astrology? The potential in an exact moment based on the correlations of planetary motion and our experience? or the magic inherent within the quality of human interaction? or something else? How many accurately timed client charts do Astrologers work with? Is astrology really the technology which an exact birth moment suggests? A child's first breath, cutting of the chord, the primary incision? conception even? I propose that in whichever model we choose to work with the astrology finds its place!
• Once in a blue Moon! well this month (June '07) we have a blue Moon. That's two full Moons in the same month. The first on the 1st at 10 Sagittarius and the second on the 30th at 8 Capricorn. Having been looking at Mundane astrology over the past few weeks, and particularly at the charts for the UK, the full Moon on the 30th hits the UK's Sun. The Sun in Mundane charts represent the leader of the country and isn't it interesting that Blair stands down on the 27th?! Are we sure he hasn't an astrologer in his employ?!
• With Saturn moving direct again now, we can look forward to progressive developments from here on over the next few months. A few dates for your diary:-
15th May - Mars into Aries
16th May - New Moon at 25° Taurus
25th May - Neptune Stationary Direct
25th June - The Final Saturn Neptune opposition - keep a watchful eye on this one!
let me know how these dates shape up for you! lets make it a field study!
• Is there anywhere in the world you have a fascination with? I've been looking at my astro-cartography to get a further insight into how astrology can account for the sense of belonging that comes with thinking of or visiting these places. I can see why I have lived in and been drawn to them now with an amazing level of accuracy. The astrological path just gets deeper and deeper! How far down the rabbit hole do you go!? I've definitely taken the red pill!!
• Venus has moved into Gemini, and so we are all looking to group up and enjoy each others company. A great time for a gathering and to value spending some time with your friends. Why not organise an event or a BBQ at the weekend to celebrate.
• The grand trine between the Sun, Jupiter and Saturn has been bringing opportunities to learn something about our path in life. Its giving us a sense of direction and is allowing things to fall into place a little easier than normal. if you've been putting the hard work in, then now is a time of rewards and the next phase of development begins. If not, then use this opportunity to spark the fire back into your life with a new vision.
• Are you sure of your time of birth? If only mums could a little more diligent when giving birth to take a look at the clock. It might just give us an insight into our lives through accurate astrology that we otherwise might never have! .... Spoken like a true Man!! lol!!
• Yesterdays full moon was just lovely! At 12 degrees of Libra it was an especially nice one! that's NICE in bold caps and underlined! Let's see how things pan out over the next few days as La Luna moves through the end of Libra into Scorpio. Have you ever kept a moon diary? Keep note of the sign of the moon and how you feel. You may see a pattern emerging!
• April Fools! Well as Mercury moves into Aries in 10 days time, it begins a new cyclical journey through the zodiac. The fool throws himself off of the cliff with the innocence and mysterious impulse to leap into the unknown. The first tarot card of the Major Arcana invokes thoughts of Aries as the child is born to the dawn of spring and to the fresh series of lessons he will learn on his sojourn of maturation through the signs. Why must we lose that childlike innocence and learn to fear the unknown. We are all born with the magic, but the magic is educated from us.
